- About Us
HUBS is a program which uses bicycle mechanics and riding as a vehicle for youth development. Our programs are structured to instill confidence, leadership skills, and collaborative abilities in our students. We aim to make cycling, from silly to serious, a viable option to members of the greater Holyoke community. Check out our video!
Contact HUBS by calling 413-533-3608 or email our HUBS Coordinator, David Neal.
Our hours are:
Monday 5-8 PM
Wednesday 5-8 PM
Saturdays 9-2 PM
Low cost bike purchases can be made any time that HUBS is open! We have kids bikes, mountain bikes, road bikes and everything in between.
Students learn basic repair skills in this 20 hour introductory course. Each class covers a different mechanical system on a bike. Upon completing the course, the bike is theirs to keep.
Bike Crew is an advanced mechanics program open to graduates of Earn-a-Bike. Through their work time, participants can earn volunteer hours which can be traded in for parts and supplies. Participants refurbish bikes for sale and are invited to participate in regular group rides.
Cleaning out your basement, or garage? Need a place to drop off your old bikes? HUBS takes all bike donations and puts effort into giving that old bike a new home. No bike is too old or too small. Call us at 534-5631 x114!
It’s really great and I hope it’s something that will last a long time. I can do pretty much anything to a bike now: fix the brakes, the gears, change a flat, fix the hub, make sure it’s clean and greased and all that stuff.

The program makes me feel more confident about working on bikes, and I feel mechanically professional. A typical day here, we fix bikes, we get donations, and teach kids about fixing bicycles.
– Joseph, age 14
It’s a good way to learn a new skill, because everyone should try something new. I don’t like to try new things, but I liked the way this program ran. It did bring people together, because I didn’t know some of the people here, and we’re friends now, we really got to know each other during the program. I didn’t think I would like it at first, but it turns out I liked it, a lot.
