The Greater Holyoke YMCA Viking Swim Team strives to develop each individual to their maximum potential as a person, while providing opportunities on all levels of competitive swimming. The
foundation of the program is centered in the YMCA Core Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. HYV is a family environment that encourages participants, and parents, to become
healthy and supportive assets to the program. Goals of the program include motivating swimmers of all ages and abilities to strive toward the highest level of competition they can achieve,
and developing a sense of awareness of self and others. With the Vikings, team unity and hard work is essential to success.
The Greater Holyoke YMCA Viking Swim Team is rich with tradition and excellence. The team has had success at the Local and National level, with over 20 Western Mass YMCA League Titles, and a
3rd Place Overall Finish at the 2011 YMCA Long Course Nationals. The program is offered year-round, with the Fall/Winter Season running September through March, and the Spring/Summer Season
running April through July. Swimmers progress at their own pace, and over a period of time are introduced to more challenging training sessions and higher level competition.
In 2024 the team placed 2nd overall at YMCA New Englands!!
